Transforming Rural Communities Through
Financial Support
Poverty in rural Bangladesh is often linked to limited access to financial resources. ISDO-BD’s Microcredit Program provides small, low-interest loans and training support so families especially women can build sustainable livelihoods.
Program Overview
The ISDO-BD Microcredit Program provides small, low-interest loans to marginalized women and men in rural areas. Loans enable beneficiaries to start or grow income-generating activities such as livestock rearing, vegetable farming, tailoring, fisheries, grocery shops, and other cottage industries. Our approach emphasizes group-based lending, mutual accountability, and training support helping beneficiaries manage funds responsibly and achieve long-term self-reliance.

Implementation Approach
ISDO-BD organizes small groups (15–25 members) of women from nearby villages. Each group collectively ensures loan repayment and encourages savings habits.
Before receiving loans, members attend short training on financial literacy, bookkeeping, business planning, and group cooperation.
Loans are distributed based on a member’s business plan and repayment ability. Regular monitoring visits ensure proper utilization of funds.
Every member contributes a small portion of earnings to a savings fund fostering community ownership, resilience, and emergency support.

Success Story
Rokeya Begum, a mother of three from Jamalpur, used her first microcredit loan to purchase a sewing machine. Within a year, she turned her tailoring into a stable source of income. Today, she employs two other women from her village and proudly pays her children’s school fees. Stories like Rokeya’s inspire our continued commitment to expanding financial opportunities for the rural poor.
